if i remember correct from physics class, its not the crash itself that causes you to die, its the acceleration. If you go from 800km/h, or whatever speed the plane has, to zero, your body will simply not be able to stand it, even if you jump before the crash and dont hit anything

But how about a falling lift, where the deceleration might not be that massive?
Mythbusters did something about this, but I forgot the outcome.

Yes. The elevator idea works in peoples heads because they think they'll actually move upward if they jump, when in reality they'll just move down slightly slower.
